Apparently, Shakira has now covered this song. I have yet to listen to her version, but will eventually only because it seems so random. I prefer Infinity over Islands, but again, quibbles.
And yes, I listened to The xx's cover of Florence + The Machine (another fantastic album from last year) and uh, so much drool. Haven't heard the Kyla cover though.
Shakira? That IS random. I think her cover won't do the song justice partly because her voice so grating.
We're music twins! I'm not sure if that even makes sense, but you know what I mean haha.
The whole Florence + The Machine's album was fantastic. I wanted to see her when she came in April, but once again I have no friends who share the taste in music as me =(
Clearly, we need to befriend each other and go to these said concerts. Who knew slightly ironic, often yearning 20-somethings crooning on the mic had such a specific audience? Go figure.
I can't believe it I havn't heard of these guys before. They are so similar to Stars. Guy and Girl with absolutely no vocal abilities doing a stoned monotone. Love it. Love your blog so far.
Is this how we are going to be talking now? LOL. Yeah, love me some Stars. They make for good background study music, where you can just tune them out. But if you did want to be consciously involved in the music, love their lyrics and such.
Normally I don't read post on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very forced me to take a look at and do so! Your writing style has been amazed me. Thanks, very great article.
the youtube link doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteGreat Band XX :) lyrics can use some work but maybe thats what makes you appreciate the beat and music more
